Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed this development, noting that the idea emerged following his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Zelensky mentioned that the proposed meeting would take place at a technical level and in a three-way format, with the United States expected to suggest a date. He indicated that the discussion on a potential trilateral meeting had already taken place between Ukrainian and US negotiators, with further consultations planned with European partners. On the US side, there is an intention to engage with Russia before advancing the discussions.
The venue for the proposed talks has been suggested as the UAE, which is seen as a neutral ground for the discussions. The Kremlin has hinted at the possibility of such talks occurring in the near future, although no specific details have been finalized as yet.
In addition to these efforts, Zelensky has requested President Trump to bring up the Ukraine conflict in his talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This request underscores Ukraine’s desire to garner broader international support to alleviate tensions and work towards a resolution.
